WHEN WE LAUGH
We are the less privileged
And that’s all you see us as
But when we laugh, the earth shakes
We might have our clothes tattered;
And our roofs, thatched
On a deserted hut
You say it’s jagged! Shabby! Old!
We call it home
And in it, we give our best laughter
Don’t call us weak
We are lions!
Our pockets aren’t filled with cash
But the joy in our hearts can’t be bought
We love and live;
We dance for joy
When we laugh
We laugh longer and better
Oluwatosin Faith Kolawole hails from ise-ekiti,
Ekiti state. Nigeria. A young lady with an ardent zeal for writing. She
writes more of poetry and as a result of her love towards writing. She
has participated in several online and offline competitions, a top
leading poet. She's also the brain behind TeeFaith Crafts.
COME B(L)ACK HALF-RICA
When Africa was A-Frica,
We set traps of kindness
And wrote lines of love
On each other's palm
We set traps of kindness
And wrote lines of love
On each other's palm
Our black skin scares the night
So, at night, the moon often
spread its mat on our faces
Atop the smiles we enslave
So, at night, the moon often
spread its mat on our faces
Atop the smiles we enslave
When Africa was a-FREEca
Our robe was a rag of reality
And our heart, a harmless hut
where pleasure is served hot
Our robe was a rag of reality
And our heart, a harmless hut
where pleasure is served hot
O' half-rica,
Pangs of sweet memories
Has dug the hole of despair
Deep in my helpless soul
Pangs of sweet memories
Has dug the hole of despair
Deep in my helpless soul
I cease to be fed
With mere memories
Of a past that has left
And would never come b(l)ack
With mere memories
Of a past that has left
And would never come b(l)ack

MEN! NOT GODS.
Upon the coast of Thermopylae
Three hundred: saved democracy; saved us all
Drenching the sand: their sweats
Soaking the sea: their blood
Spartans! All of them
They were men, not gods
Makings and breakings of empires
Risings and fallings of monarchies
Apexing and declining of anarchies
Have always rested, on the shoulders
Of – Men not gods!
Even God to save his own
From penuries of death, of hell
Though He sought and planned as God
He needed to act, needed to triumph
As man! Not as God
Remember the Alamo
Viva la Revolution
For god and for country
Black and proud
They were men, not gods
Those who need to
Bring back our girls
And to vote right
Are Men! Not Gods!
Gods may bless, and gods may curse
But those who need to fight
For freedom, for justice, for righteousness
Will always be –
Men, not gods!
Upon the coast of Thermopylae

They were the best of men; the worst of men
Spartans! All of them
