How Can I Go On? By Margaret Sammy;

HOW CAN I GO ON?

How can I go on,

When the world is chasing me

A race I might never win,

My legs fail me.

***

I need help,

Not encouragement

Why won’t they listen to me?

I can’t run anymore,

I am just a girl,

Tomorrow’s woman I’m out of breath.

***

Can’t you hear me?

I might be trapped in a box,

With my talent strapped in my pouch

I plead for a moment to be heard,

To be seen,

Please don’t say no

***

If I do my part,

What about yours?

I am human, Not a machine,

Listen to me,

I beg to be heard

POETS OF THE MONTH - JUNE 2015

THE POETRY COURT
POETS OF THE MONTH, JUNE 2015.

For this month JUNE 2015, we have OGUNSANYA ENITAN OLALEKAN as our first [1st] position, with his poem titled WHEN WILL ALL THESE STOP?
For the second [2nd] position we have JAMES ADEMUYIWA with his poem titled ODE TO MY STRINGS MAN.

And for the third [3rd] position we have AKINBODE ISREAL, with his poem titled BREAK THE CONDOM.

 WHEN WILL ALL THESE STOP?

All the killings and assault
The nakedness you caused by fire
burning of clothes off our bodies.
Turning us into ashes,
flinging into the floating
sea so we can drink it to
stupor;
When will all these stop?

Why have we suddenly
become rats you pursue about
Laying down traps for us cos
we eat just part of your
food and share your
homes with you
And you kill us for this.

Didn't your fore-fathers tell
you of how we suffered
In improving what you're now
destroying us for
We stuck up for you when
everybody left and upgraded
your prowess,
we passed through the thick
and thin with you
and all you could ever think of
is XENOPHOBIA.

We are now roasted as corns
while you took the pictures
just because of amenities,
those we thought will help
are now telling us to stay indoor
when we aren't a leper
while others are taking their's
away
Why not sack us and send us-
alive back home to suffer
peacefully why death?

Is death the reward of all our past
labors
Nelson mandela is crying in the
grave looking back at what his
country is becoming making
apathy of his suffering.

A question which i don't have its answer is
WHEN WILL ALL THESE STOP?.

Ogunsanya Enitan Olalekan is also known as Enistik, hails from Ijebu Remo North Ogun state. a poet, essayist and a psalmist. a lover of art thus had participated in contest outside and inside Nigeria. wish to push poetry round the universe.

 ODE TO MY STRINGS MAN
 Dedicated to Oduntan Emmanuel Akinwunmi.

Let the nightingale flap her wings
To the rhythms of my praise
That the trees may whistle odes
And send them through ecstasy winds

To the mountains side and valleys,
Let there be eruption of volcanic joy
To stream down cold hearts of fury
And replace apathy with warm fuzzies
Listen to the rumbling of the oceans
As they form the beats of happiness
That gave us reasons for celebration
On the born day of symphony master
Let nature speak through the clouds
That rain of wishes may fall on him,
For wishes from the seventh heaven
May rest on the shoulders of this sage

Therefore, blow the candles of rebirth
And cut the cake of merriment
Sing songs of the angelic class
For we celebrate the Nature's beauty today

James Ademuyiwa is a POET.

 BREAK THE CONDOM
[A message to all elected leaders]

 They've thrusted between our laps
With their throbing rod
Madly dressed with insane force
Bisceting our laps to kill their apetite.

They chewed our lips
Was that a kiss?
Their thornfull hands tore our shells
Laying us down on sands that blinds
The eyes of today from tomorow.

Break the condom, make us pregnant
Waste not our seeds on mocking grounds
That can only grow inside flesh
Don't be a learner!

Bless our wombs with the real fluid
Wear them no mask, we are not harlots?
Make us conceive the future now
Make it real, make it a pleasure!

...............................................................................................................................................................

You beat me up in the
street,
like drumsticks to my skin  you beat.
My offence is that i live on
yourland.
As punishment to all you give
xenophobic attack.

Wriggling me hither,wrigglin
me thiter,
more tortures to my
skin.
Like rainfall on a cocks
back.
You pay deaf ears to my
pleas.
As modern slaves of much
labour,
savouring pain, and its
flavour
with hearts not filled with
pleasure.
I work with much
glamour.

So unjustly you treat
me.
Remember you are my
blood,
wounded in skin by Gods
spoken word.
But you are haughty
towards me,
killing me slowely.

I am being roasted like
corns
while you stood at the scene
snapping
instead of you to leave me
alone
and seed me to my
fatherland.
Why this xenophobic
assault?

How long shall this
be?
A brothers blood to quench
thirist.
The moon bleeds with babies
cries,
the earth gone wet from soaking
blood.
Abomination.

Sit on my carcases lap and
whistle,
Sing me your ghostly
mourn.
Praise the machete that kissed
my neck,
and made you parasite to  deaths bony skin.

Cains blood runs in your
veins,
but be at peace for i have
seen moses.

For good i came
now, whats ugly and painful than cane?
A stranger can no longer
like and breath,
and running for my dear
life,
where to hide from
death.

The lion is brutal,
whats my fault
to answer a call?
Could i have denied
nature?
And fail my love to my
destiny
and never gone for this
quest.
For greather good to my
loved mothers land
brotherland?
