LOVE IN A MORIBUND WORLD (VALENTINE LOVE POEMS) - DAY 3 - Features Ivvy Isabella Anito & Nana Arhin Tsiwah

THAT FOUR LETTERED WORD

In a world filled with strife and rife
That four lettered word seems like  a mirage
In world devoid of solace and grace
The word looks like a myth
In a world ridden with grief and reef
The word is nothing but a jinx
That word,  that word
that lightens the dark walls of a sinners heart

That word,  that word
That brightens the dawn as it breaks into day
That word,  that word
That makes my heart somersault again and again
That word of jubilation
That word of celebration

That word of adoration

In a life filled with ashes and patches
The word is a blatant lie
In a life devoid of beauty and duty
The word is unattainable
In a life mesmerized by cruelty and disloyalty
The word remains a ruse
That word,  that word
That made me shed a million tears
That word,  that word
That pierced my heart and broke it into two

That word,  that word
That made me forsake all and sundry
That word of abolishment

That word of astonishment
That word of accomplishment

That four lettered word
That gladdens our hearts and binds our souls
Those letters that cements our bond
and creates our world of illusion
That inscription that signs our life document for aeons
and lengthens our span
Those few letters which controls our psyche here and hereafter,
expanding to the world beyond
The word that has left a question
in the thesis of many
Love,  love,  love
That four lettered word!

SOULFUL REINCARNATION: A POETIC CONVERSATION

Kofi:
Save me from this shame.
This shame of raking down the shrine.
Save my feet from licking dust, O' Goddess.
How vast has my soul sketch.
How dreadful the canoe keeps skipping waves.
Endure salt my son!
Endure and never wait on the basket of tears..

I have seen darkness outshine light.
And when rains sprinkle blood and pebbles, does it not rewrite our stories in pages of unseen?
My past is a deeply written mirrors of reflection,
The present, a newly sprouted mushroom under dews..

Tell them, Ato Kwamena, son of the oldest tiger hunter.
Tell the owls of the night,
Whisper to the sea that belts beneath ducts of ancestors;
That the River now eats the sea..

When tears dry behind River banks.
And folktales vaporize into thinly vanquishing shadows,
Shall our tears not bear witnesses of our forebears?
Come home. Come back.
Come through the epoch of rememberance.
For the River steals the beauty of the sea..

Abeiku:
All fingers are the elements of the soul.
The soul is the fruit of the heart.
The heart is the seed of divination.
Is the heart no music when the artist fulfils the demands of Gods in the sand?

I don't know who wasn't right.
I don't know who was wrong.
The hunter has returned home empty-handed; his sack thirsting of emptiness...
Was it his fears that drove the antelope away?
Was it his poisoned blood that fanned his gunpowder into the smokeless nightly garment of the forest?
That I don't know. That I can't foretell;
For I am only a lip of the ancestral feel..

LOVE IN A MORIBUND WORLD (VALENTINE LOVE POEMS) DAY 2 Features Ogedengbe Tolulope & Seun Alaka

TONIGHT

Tonight,
I pluck out of the sky twinkling stars
To weave them into rhythmic rhymes
That echo sweet melodies of love.

Tonight,
I wrap words in a pleasant piece
To puff like smoke from my mouth
Till they diffuse into your heart's stream.

Tonight,
I whisper soft endearments on the breeze
For you to heed the sighing wind
And welcome my words to your heart.

Tonight,
I come to seduce you with words
Fuel your passion with exotic ecstasy
Till you are cuddled to your bliss.

     DOWNSTREAM

A beauteous maiden bathing at downstream
So charming as the mid-night stars that beam
The fragrance on her body could heal pains
She rubs her oily smooth skin while it rains

Her beauty washed the wealth of Atlantis
Engagement oath proposed by the high seas
In barter with valuables of the soil
The flowers produced vegetable oil

Like a flowing stream strong emotions flow
From vessels to master gland of my soul
Downstream,I'd rather we did reside
And build a tranquil kingdom;place of pride
For thorough love exchange like turtle dove
With pleasantness of soft calls, birds of love

LOVE IN A MORIBUND WORLD (VALENTINE LOVE POEMS) - DAY 1 - Features Abiola Inioluwa & Anca Mihaela Bruma

MAD MEN LOOK ALIKE

Alake;
See I've seen stories of many mad men,
And I've chewed images of the naked ones
Clothed in regalia of mockery and of pity;
I've heard of the ones who swung their waists to in-existing beats,
And I've heard of the ones who carved out a friend
From shadows of nothingness at night
Only to be consoled by their loneliness,
But one thing is certain,
Mad Men Look Alike.

Mad men look alike, and I'm one of them;
Do not judge me, Alake,
Mad men are addicted to shackles of slavery,
But I'm addicted to you.
See, the tranquility of your lips ring a bell of passion
In my memories.
See, I hear voices in your eyes, calling my
memories back to the night your smiles
Enchanted me with the beautiful aura of your dimples.

Your heart has stolen my smiles, now my smile
Is intertwined in your solemn smiles.
Each time the moon comes visiting at night,
I see your figure in the glowing songs it sing.
And when darkness is cloaked round my chambers,
You become the shadows of dimming darkness.
Hear this Alake
You are the imagery that beautify my poem
And the soul of the lyrics in my music.

Alake, do not blame me for the similarities I have
With that mad man who smiles without a cause
At the village square,
But blame our heart for making me a dancer
At the market place where love is the only goods and services
On your tray.
This feeling is called madness,
But even the graveyard cannot snatch this feeling
Off my palms.

Call my name Alake, for I hear them even in dreamland;
Marry me Alake, for my care shall become your maidservant
Preserving you from the cold hands of torture,
For you are the fragile damsel i see lingering in my future
Each time my thought goes in search of a wife.

Forgive me Alake,
But refuse to forgive this feeling of madness
Your love has caused.
Blame not the mad men on the road side,
But remember not to forget that mad men look alike,
And here is one who wields your heart.

I FEEL YOU!

I feel you in everything...
in the glorious nights inside your incandescent eyes
where butterflies knit my dreams and compass my heartbeats.

I feel you in everything...
while resting your sigh in the corner of a letter
and the blue grass kneels at the border between dream and spring.

I feel you in everything...
in the rhythmical sunsets of your absences and prologues,
within your unspoken words turned into sleepless stones.

I feel you in everything...
when I conjugate your breath with my acoustic verses,
in the silence of your footsteps, on the tip of my eyes.

I feel you in everything...
when I swallow the octave of your presence,
a fluorescent beauty rustling in theatrical infuses.

I feel you in everything...
in all scarlet concentric moments of the past,
in the euphoric tempo of samsaric and philharmonic sensations.

I feel you in everything...
in all your silent similarities and rippled reflections,
when your thoughts are juxtaposed with the pattern of my breathing.

I feel you in everything...
when your restlessness rotates inside my lyrical veins
and I wonder behind my face highlighting your insights.

I feel you in everything...
during all echoless autumns and multiplied mornings,
when you come to resurrect me from my own lasting winter.

I feel you in everything...
when I write this letter now and seal it with a kiss!
Mon chéri! It has been grown inside my heart!...

(Anca Mihaela - 12th February 2015)

Educator, lecturer, performance poet, eclectic thinker, mentor with staunch multi-cultural mindset and entrepreneurial attitude, Anca Mihaela Bruma considers herself a global citizen, having lived in four continents. Her eclecticism can be seen in her intertwined studies, she pursued: a Bachelor of Arts (Romania) and a Master of Business Administration (Australia).

The author labels her own writings as being “mystically sensual”, a tool and path for women to claim their own inner feminine powers. She uses poetics as a form of literary education, self-discovery and social engagement.

Through her writings she surpasses what seems to be the limitations of the human but emphasizing the essence of the woman, of the Goddess. The main theme, Love, is basically presented as a transformative experience in life, the energizing force in the universe and empowering the creative feminine.

When she writes she sees a painting in front of her eyes, using symbolism and allegory in order to capture the infinite intelligence gathering the reflections of truth with a strong mystic sense of the boundless, of the opening out of the world of our normal finite expressions into the transcendental. Like an architect of a language she builds a language within a language, a world within a world, using vivid, sometimes surreal, imagery, giving her poetry a feeling of transcendence.

Her writings reflect her spiritual autobiography, with depictions of hidden reality, with no limitations of space and time, - a quantum view of Existence. Currently, she sees her writings as a practice of being present within the language, a paradigm of living encoded within the message itself, a poetic consciousness with a spherical view of Life and Love. It is related to the realization of the greater self beyond the mundane and established laws of the society: as an expression of both the rational and the intuitive, in the concise poetic form, increasing one’s mindfulness with expanded, even unfamiliar meanings.

Anca sees her writing as an act of Creation, in which the pain transcends into Beauty, allowing a profound healing process to take place. She, as a poet, alchemically heals herself through this process and subsequently heals all who are touched by her writings. She considers that is the main purpose of ART, to Heal and Elevate the minds and souls of the readers!

DEATH IS NOT DEATH

Duet by:
Vine (Vinedepoet)
Ayomikun (DaTalent)

Vinedepoet;
When death does its worst
And all seems lost,
Wear off the pain my dear
For death deserves not our tear.
Put up a smile
For this is not the end of the mile
Weep no more,
For he sleeps now but wake by morn

DaTalent;
When death comes knocking,
He comes with weeping,
Stealing away our hero,
And leaving in our heart a big zero.
And after his visit is done,
We are left but wretched and torn.

Vinedepoet;
Death leaves me in wonder
And like a wanderer
it's strength i ponder;
Of its ways I found none
O, What a phenomenon!
Weep no more!
For he sleeps now but wake by morn

DaTalent;
Death. What a friend,
Though may seem fiend
Yet carries us on his back
And leads us on our 'home track.
I gloat at death's visit,
Its glacial hug; my sole soul feat

Vinedepoet;
Save thy worry,
Need not to hurry:
When our sojourn is over,
With Celestials we'd hover,
We will not quiver nor shiver.
Dry thy grief river that abound
Ere, our Maker will come around.

DaTalent
Life is delicate
Death obliterate; cycle of fate
Lighten up ye bereaved
And let not your heart be deceived
Death is but another phase
That'll take you to your creator's place.

Vinedepoet
Let this feeling not have  you pierced
Rejoice!
For Death was  conquered before it's existence

DaTalent;
Death may cloak my glee
With its glossy scarf
Erelong, together we would be
With unending laugh.
I love you so much my dear
That I'd forever sacrifice to you my tear.

Vinedepoet;
Death is not death
It's only our vehicle to eternity from earth
Thy brother is only on a nap while he journeys
So leave all for the Great Attorney
For the judgement is for only Him
And soon we'd all meet again in the realm
Take heart!
Let my words bring thee comfort
So you can stand fit to go forth
Weep no more!
For death is not death

This threnody is inspired by the death of DaTalent's brother.

THE BUILDING ITSELF IS ART; WHY DESTROY IT ? by Kolawole Taiye

What kind of government orders security personnels to supervise
the bulldozing of an art haven? It must be a government immersed in the
philosophy of 'art has no value.' This government is wrong, art has
value and the value of an artwork is endless.
To start with, a piece of art should not be messed up,not to
mention a whole haven of art that has produced great artists and great
artworks; such is the sad story of artists who watched the artist
village, a part of the National Theatre in Lagos demolished under the
supervision of security personnel's and the Director General of the
National Theatre.
For instance , as a poet, i hate it when a line of my poem is
being tampered with, not to mention a mutilation of the whole poem-it
is like chopping off a vital part of myself at the expense of other
parts. Maybe someone needs to orientate this government ; we need an
'art seer' to tell this government that a haven of arts is as good as
the pyramids in Egypt, that took years of labour and toil to build. We
equally need an 'art seer' to remind this government that a haven of
art is greater than the ruins found in Rome and other parts of the
world-i mean even these ruins are being preserved, not to mention a
whole building.
That demolished building is art itself, having produced great
artists and priceless artworks-in fact, that building was a novel, a
play, a painting,a sculpture, a poem, and everything that art is which
unfortunately has been destroyed out of man's inhumanity to man. I
therefore lend my voice (as someone who was affected) to the many
voices that are saying artists must be compensated, questionable
individuals must be brought to book and ultimately, that the artists
village should be rebuilt by the government who had ordered its
demolition.
